    • Interview: The 'Handicap Icon' Gets New Life
New York’s revamped accessibility symbol began at a Christian college. Symbols shape our perceptions. A large swoosh on a stranger's T-shirt lets us, in a fraction of a moment, decode the logo to make an almost-instantaneous assessment of its wearer. Symbols are instinctually familiar, whether the contemporary shapes of the Playboy bunny or Hello Kitty […]
    • Sponsoring a Movement
Former sponsored children like Moses Pulei pay it forward in their hometowns. Moses Pulei knows the benefits of child sponsorship up close and personal. The oldest of four sons, Pulei grew up in a mud hut 40 miles from Namanga, a town along the Tanzania-Kenya border. Life in his village was so laid-back, he can only guess his age—his passport lists it as 44. […]
    • Superman Isn't Jesus
Hollywood's overblown superhero-savior parallels. Despite what you may have heard, the "man of steel" is no Son of Man. With every new Superman movie, this rumor that fans look to him as the savior of humanity spreads through trailers and interviews. The directors of the last two Superman flicks found religious symbolism particularly attractiv […]
    • Multisite Evolution
What should be the 'new normal' for multisite churches? Whatever your opinion of multisite may be, there can be no doubt it is the new normal. I watch Real Housewives reruns on Sundays.   3. He does not drink coffee. I stumble and bump into things in the morning until I’ve had a cup. I mean two.   4. He does not drink wine. I stumble a […]

    • Just a Normal Day Around Here June 17, 2013
      1. I finished my holiday cookbook. All that’s left is proofreading, editing, and cleaning my camera, which is coated in twelve holidays worth of food. It smells a little funky.     2. We hosted a wedding reception at the Lodge Friday night. Cowboy Josh got married and I’ll post more details as I sift through my photos and try to remember my mother’s maiden n […]

    • No Wonder I Didn’t Win June 14, 2013
A couple of days ago, Marlboro Man and I took our now nine-year-old son, our baby, to a laser tag course in the big city with his siblings, his cousins, and six of his friends. We celebrated his birthday at the place a good week after his actual birthday, which was fine with him because it meant a protracted celebration and something to live for during the l […]

Where is the Time Going???

I just looked at the date of my last post and I can’t believe it has been longer than a month.  I’ll have to catch up, but for now I’m off to get a shower.  I know almost 1 in the afternoon is kinda late for a shower, but I’ve just been takin’ it easy and relaxing this morning.  I better get it done though before someone comes knockin at my door.
