How Then Shall We Pray?

Our family is being faced with new challenges each day.  Let’s just say I am stressed WAY out!!!  I talk to the Lord about it and as I was talking, I began thinking about how I should pray.  I, of course, want it all to go away so we can get on with the fun part of life.

But, of course, my way is not the best way.  God’s way is.

How then should I pray?

Should I ask God to make it all better? I don’t know what is best for my life.  I don’t know what pain will bring about the best results according to His plan for my life.

I lift up my voice to God and ask him what it is that he wants me to learn from this time in my life.  I don’t want to miss an opportunity to grow.  My life is but a lump of clay waiting for the Master’s hand to create a masterpiece.

How then should I pray?

Should I ask for a hall pass?  Should I ask God to stop the potter’s wheel and let me off?  No!  He reminded me of this prayer the other night.  He said, “This is the way to pray.”

The Lord’s Prayer

King James Version

“Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.”
